> and will never exist in Iraq again

Now how is that possible, unless we are always there to watch for it?

> I don't see Germany or Japan begging us to leave.

Rather immaterial to the debate don't you think? It is about plans for Iraq not Japan's desires.

> I doubt most Iraqis would rather continue living the way they do...

And therein lies the problem. They don't want Saddam, but nor do they want US. And you may think that if they've been willing to live with Saddam for so long, then they will appreciate having Americans run the show if it improves their lives...but you could not have been more wrong...but give it time and you will see.

<I doubt most Iraqis would rather continue living the way they do other than religious fanatics with desire for absolute power.>

Iran is the country run by religious fanatics.
Iraq is run by a secular (that means non-religious) dictator.

I know, both names start with the letter I, so it's easy to get confused, but it's Iraq that we are invading. At the moment.

<I don't understand your fear and hatred of American ideas>

It is Imperialism that is UnAmerican. The idea of imposing our will, by force, on nations all over the planet, is not what Jefferson and Washington and Paine and the rest of the Founding Fathers had in mind. And I could bury you in quotes to prove that last sentence, if you care to dispute it. My nation has mutated away from the "American ideas", at least as far as our foreign policy, and I want to return them to those ideas. The way I see it, I am the patriot, and the NeoCons have hijacked my country.

I don't understand your fear and hatred of American ideas.

And I haven't seen such in Jacob's posts. Just serious reflection about the pros and cons of this invasion.
