Karen, thank you for providing a global view of this war. It is always important to have an understanding of how others see us. We do not live in a vacuum or own the world. We share it with others. An interesting point left out of the Russian piece was that Brezhnev Doctrine hastened the fall of Soviet Union immensely. I wonder if the same will be said about the Bush Doctrine in future decades. Power (that is with capital P) is more than corruptive. It is toxic. The more you use force when you are on the top, the less you will stay at the top.

There was (might still be) a window of opportunity to establish international bodies that contribute to real stability around the globe. US was the only country that could (can?) get the job done and reap the rewards of peace and stability...any way, I'd better not get started on that.
