800,000?

I think they have located six divisions, five around Baghdad and a sixth outside Tikrit....and they have been pounding them unmercifully (B-52s, drones and TLAM) for the last two days....

JLA

Edit: I believe that currently each US Division has about 15,300 soldiers. In addition, each division has about 180 tanks and 225 Bradley Fighting Vehicles. I'm not sure about the Iraqi configuration but I'd be willing to be it would have more bodies and fewer tanks and vehicles....

Speaking of 'barbarians'... there is such a thing as winning a battle, and losing the larger war (i.e., the war for global opinion and support in opposing terrorism).

It's know as a 'Pyrrhic Victory'.

If we start 'carpet bombing Baghdad' then we can kiss away several 'friendly' governments, and lose the support of others such as Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Pakistan... not to mention the rest of NATO.

Fundamentalist regimes could over-throw Western leaning governments, and the World could turn it's back on us.

The economic costs alone could be catastrophic.

IMO, they should bring out the MOABS now and drop them on the Republican guards, but I'm confident that our military experts know what they're doing.

where did you get that 800K number.

How much ammunition do these people have, not as much as us I assume. Did we bomb their supplies at all?

This should be still winnable for us in a month or so, its not like Vietnam where its a "controlled war". At this point I think winning is the only option. We can't really pull out that will leave Saddam to do whatever the hell he pleases.

Bush really blew this bigtime. This is very bad.

We showed the Iraqis mercy by not completely destroying them straight out. I thought the Iraqis would be civilized and intelligent enough to see they are between a rock and a hard place. Unfortunately the Iraqis have remained true to their barbaric natures. Bush should have adjusted the very moment he got wind of our troop's execution and begun to make the Iraqis pay for their decision. Instead, he is still concerned about appearances while Saddam doesn't care about appearances at all.

I am disappointed that our troops have been executed and dishonored and yet our leaders are acting as if nothing has happened. That lets me know how little they value the lives of our boys and girls.

Very well then. They ought not complain when too few people volunteer to come forth for the next war.
