Gore like Kerry volunteered for combat. I brought this to your attention before. Gore never volunteered for combat. He was in 'Nam 3 months, theoretically as a journalist, and never got out of Saigon. While there he had a 'minder', requested by the local General in charge of the area, to make sure he did not wander into the more dangerous dens of iniquity in Saigon. His 'minder' was an experienced war correspondent who, when interviewed on television admitted the General(Hooper or Cooper) had requested he keep an eye on Big Al. The 'minder' stated he agreed keep Al out trouble, as a favor to the General, but he wasn't about to put his life on the line for him. Gore arrived in 'Nam in January and strangely enough the photography outfit he was assigned to was de-commissioned in early May. 3 and 1/2 months of Saigon 'combat'. Remember, this was the same guy who, when he ran out of college deferment, enrolled in Theological school but quit it soon after. As one wag put it 'he failed god'. Thank god for the wisdom of the Supreme Court. Ken
