The unbridled idealism that typifies liberalism can only be described as "child-like".

worldnetdaily.com

This is such a narrow, unprofessional, unrealistic, unaware view of R. Corrie and people like her, it wasn't worth reading. Is this the gutter snipe with which you fill your mind?

First, I don't know what article they are talking about but I did not see a Seattle Times article that described her as a martyr.

Secondly, its been my experience that idealism is dangerous only when its combined with arrogance and self righteous anger. Most ideologues seem to share these characteristics. I would not be surprised if R. Corrie was one of them.

Thirdly, R. Corrie was trying to prevent a MD's house from being demolished. Is that such an ignoble cause as suggested by the article?

Fourthly, the article presents the view that all Palestinians are violent; that's no more true than representations that all Americans are violent.

Fifthly, they present the Israelis as innocent victims and the Palestinians as the evil ones. Anyone who knows the history of Palestine knows that's not true. And no one can claim that the Israelis are a non violent people.

Sixly, the article claims that idealists won't stand up against real evil. Horseshit! One need look no further than the Tiananmen Square of 1989. Unfortunately, if not well planned, idealism doesn't fare well in the face of real evil.

Finally, the article argues that R. Corrie was the victim of Palestinian terror; from where I'm sitting, Israeli terror was at least partly responsible.

David. Re...The unbridled idealism that typifies liberalism can only be described as "child-like".

I can tell Ted won't like this article. I disagree somewhat with Israel in this also. Frankly, it should up to Israel to create a buffer on their land, if that is Israels plan. For instance. lets say your neighbor has a tree which drops some acorns. And if the wind is blowing right, some of these acorns can land on your prized petunias, knocking some petals off. You don't have the right to saw off his branches.. It would be your obligation to plant your petunias far enough back so they don't get hurt. In this case, Israel doesn't have the right to go on some one else's land, in another country, to knock down his house, to protect your property. Israel should move its houses back out of the way, so there is a buffer, and go through the courts to get redress, if the terrorist used his house to attack Israel. In other words, if Irael's solution is to have a buffer zone, then that buffer zone should reside on Israels land.
