Zonder: It's easy to see how badly this mess of a war is going since the war zealots have nothing to say. The question is are they sitting stupefied in front of their televisions appalled by what they see or riveted by death and destruction. I hope they are having second thoughts about this immoral, unnecessary and illegitimate war. ANd that may be the case when Hawks like Laz are beginning to deny they ever wanted it, though evidence to the contrary is replete here.

I really appreciate your posts and insight and perspective.

>>> The funny part is that these guys actually undermine any case the right wing could make for the war, with their unintelligible, crass, uncivil diatribe. There are only a few exceptions to this rule around here on SI - people who actually make the effort to put together an intelligent case and deliver it in a civil manner.<<<

Zonder, there are folks here who sincerely and credibly argue their case in support of the war. Indeed, if credible arguments for the war can't be refuted and knocked down, then there is no credible reason to oppose it.

It's just a shame that so much which exists in support of this war is rooted more in political and economic opportunism and that the propaganda campaign as set forth by the Bush Administration has blinded so many. It's my view anyone who really does try to read between the lines, would find more than enough reason to oppose it.

This war never should have started!
