I don't think most Iraqis (the people) are defending their homeland right now. That will happen after we take over the country. For now most of the resistance is from Saddam's loyalists who know if the regime is overthrown, even their cats and dogs won't survive. But when Saddam is gone resistance will be futile, especially if US issues an amnesty and promises to protect them, which I am pretty sure US will do.

I'm not clear on what you are saying here, ST. Do you think guerilla activity will occur after conventional fighting ends or not?

Are you saying that you think Saddam's loyalists will surrender upon the death of SH, that his rule is the only thing holding their loyalty now?
