This is not a debate about whose job it is.

ST, it is about whose job it is.

I backed out of this conversation because you don't directly address anything posed to you. You reply with analogies. Since you mentioned my name though, here goes ...

Yes, there is such a thing as responsibility .... the older folk on this thread actually remember what that word means.

The House of Saud is responsible for their country; not you, not me. They are supposed to care for their citizens; nobody else. If Saudis are being raped economically by the House of Saud then it is their responsibility to address the issue.

The mayor of Kabul ? Do you propose he's not better off today than a year ago ? Fact is, he'd be dead now or in exile if it weren't for us. Perhaps you're suggesting another year of Taliban abuse would have been better for the people of Afghanistan ? Is that what you're recommending here ? Go talk to the women of Afghanistan if you are.

You seem to make excuses; the world is filled with excuse makers who abdicate responsibility. I'm speaking of individuals, countries, cultures, corporations ... you name it.

It seems to me that Jordan, for example, appears to be more advanced than many of its' neighbors. Why is that ? Why not Afghanistan ? Why not Iraq ? What is different ? Is the only difference our involvement with these countries or is one progressive while others have no or little interest in being progressive ?

The United States is not responsible for every person on this earth nor are we to blame for all their problems. I truly feel badly for countries where there is little to no hope; many African countries come to mind. In all fairness though, middle eastern countries seem to be rife with governments whose only concern is their own self interest.

Of course, they always have a built in excuse.
