I assume you are having a bit of fun. They've fought each and everyone in every way possible. This one was only the most recent. As for why they have fought it, it's never been completely clear to me. Do they fear something will get out that will hurt them? By fighting it so hard, they certainly encourage that view of their motives.

This is obvious - apportioning blame, which is what Congressional committees like to do, is bad management practice. We already know generally what went wrong and further discussions are a distraction and divisive. List the problems, fix them, move on.
