I don't keep track of who the reporters are, but there are a couple that go to the White House briefings who are really rude all the time, and I don't just mean Helen Thomas. I think Ari Fliescher handles insults well - he's respectful to thoughtful questions and flip with rude ones. I think he practices tit-for-two-tats.

I am surprised that reporters get frustrated with him. He's going to say exactly what he is supposed to say and nothing more no matter how he's spun. That's his job. I guess they are rude to him to try to rattle him.

David Bloom, embedded, is reporting that the troops sent from Baghdad yesterday were wearing "3rd infantry style" uniforms.

Think the war crimes trials will be on Court TV ?

Here in NY we are having a die-in this morning designed to disrupt traffic to protest both the american war on iraq and the israeli war on palestine. The guy who is heading it up is a jewish american. In the jewish community he would be labeled a self-hating jew; in the american community i hereby label him a self hating american.
Anti americanism around the world is fueled by jealousy. Anti americanism here at home is fuel by guilt.
My fear is that there are some folks here in NY who are fed up and will try to give some reality to the term, die in. NYPD will do their job and hopefully there is minimal violence. I am in a sour mood this morning JB. I will take an early walk this morning. mike
PS Anyone else having trouble reconciling anti-vietnam days with pro-iraq war present? Although i feel being against the 12 year failed vietnam war was correct, i cringe when i think of what our brave soldier thought back then as they marched to their death, knowing that they were reviled by many at home. We dodged the draft in whatever ways we could and they served and we expected them to have an epiphany in battle that would cause them to lay down their arms. The pain never leaves the vets and now we former anti-war folks are getting a whiff of it. mike

Brooks gave him a great answer along the lines of well, you don't really need to be here if you don't want to be.

When I watched the Briefings, I thought, "What a waste of money by the media!" The only reason to have them there is to get info off the cuff from some of these Generals. What the Generals are saying is being watched and transcribed by the home offices off of TV anyway.

The reporters are looking on these briefings as a new version of the old, "Saigon Follies," and start with the assumption that everything they are being told is a lie.

You know, I've thought for years the perfect news network slogan would be "It's All About US":

"NBC News: It's All About Us."
