However, I don't know if Europeans would divulge that info but I pretty certain that my friends are not anti semitic. I was obviously not talking about your friends, since I don't know them. I was just saying that many anti-semites use Palestinian situation as an excuse for legitimize their anti-semitism. There was a lot of anti-semitism even before Jews moved to Palestine.Pressburg is a German name.......was Czechoslavakia apart of Germany before WW I. No, part of Austro-Hungarian empire. Can you still speak it? German? Not really. I have a theory that my brain has only so much capacity for languages, and English just pushed out the German and Russian (which I also used to study). I can still understand and kind of speak Czech, since Czech and Slovak are similar, and I grew up watching TV programs in both languages. The left is anti semitic........that's seems strange? The politics there took a strange turn. The "mainstream" left wing parties just disintegrated as most of the left-wing voters now support the authoritarian and nationalistic parties, which together with communists (who just made the 5% cut off) are the opposition. The right wing coalition that formed the government is composed of pro-business, Christian parties and party representing Hungarian minority (about 10% of population). Anyway, the anti-semitic Jewish conspiracy buffs for some reason are attracted to these authoritarian and nationalistic parties. What makes you think its been given the green light in Germany? They have had trouble with the skinheads but mainly in the East where there is a lot of unemployment. However, the typical skinhead victim is the Turks, not the Jews. No, it's not just the East Germany and skin-heads who are not that relevant since they are easily dismissed by the influential, high-minded media elites. It's the new left that's growing from university campuses that's the new core of anti-semitism. The anti-globalization, anti-imperialist, anti-corporate crowd. Their thing is equality, and hate of the rich, they despise the capitalist societies (that incidently sent them and are paying for there university education). And who is the wealthiest, consuming disporportionate percentage of wealth (America, and Jews within America, Israel in the mideast), so they are necessarily evil. Their anti-globalization thing is fizzling, and the only credible oposition they see to the "imperialists" are the islamists and their terrorists. So some of the extreme elemets are trying to figure out how to get on their side. Do you remember polls in Europe, shortly after 9/11 saying that America "deserved" it? This is the crowd I am talking about. (of course this is, when this crowd is not blaming that 9/11 on yet another Jewish conspiracy). There is a percentage of people who made up their mind about being anti-semitic, and they just look for conduit to express it. Palestinian/Israeli conflict and now US/Iraq are the tickets to do it without having to reveal their true motivation. This crowd probably voted for LePen just a short time ago. But it is a lot more comfortable to channel the anti-semitism through Chirac's, Schroeder's or university leftists' ideas than through those of Le Pen or Haider. Joe
