Re: Terrorism:
I am inferring that you don't see the connection between middle east instability and terrorism. Iraq may not be even the second greatest offender but it is perhaps the best chosen target. Because of WMD, regime, etc.

Re: French and Russians
Betrayal is a two way street. It will be interesting to see how world opinion shapes up in the long run.

Re: Weapons Deals:
Enough said.

Re: Oil and Competition
No better way than to stay in power than 39 cent a gallon gas and a robust economy, for all governments involved. Why risk the backlash of public opinion? I see your points, but they can easily backfire. In Europe as well as at home.

Re: Reasons.

Thank you for agreeing with my point that was at first dismissed. The fact is that Iraq is of US interest, and World interest because of the oil in the ME. Instability there is a global problem. The fact that shaping public opinion has taken precedent over the right solution(military action) simply validates that although oil is a part of the equation, it is not the reason we have a military conflict. Many other factors could easily be attributed to the straw that broke the camel's back.
