The Al Qaida operatives are north in Kurdish regions outside Saddam's control. How come those regions were outside Saddam's control ? Because USA enforces a No Fly zone and does not allow Saddam's operatives to enter those regions. All the evidence linking Iraq to Al Qaida and terrorism is speculative.Maybe Rumsfeld & Co know better, and have intelligence which says otherwise. But given Rumsfeld's recent glaring lapses of judgement, I have serious doubts.

News reports this PM say that Iraq had planned terrorist attacks on the US well prior to our invasion which have been foiled to date. Do you want to go to war with every country that is residence to some group of citizens that is planning an attack on the US? I suspect that, in the 80s there was some fringe group in the US that was planning an "attack" on japan, after all the Japanese didn't play fair in business and destroyed some of our industries- jobs were lost and anger was everywhere. We even had guys in detroit burning japanese cars just like the arabs burn US flags. Should this have resulted in a pre-emptive strike against the US?
