Lord A'mighty ST!<g>

But we understand more and have greater knowledge of everything including social sciences.

Perhaps, but we use this knowledge in service of the very same ends to which we direct all of our "tools." ...Or perhaps it's just that simply "knowing" the constituent elements of a man does not mean we can "reform" him in some other image.

The arguments for ethical behavior is not a "feel good be nice and moral" kind of argument. Using game theory you can actually show that ethical behavior is the best code of conduct for human prosperity.

You sir, are not only an optimist; but unless I have gone completely blind, as well as mad, you must be one of those number crunching LENGEDARY EE optimists?! <Hoo><Hoo>

So "game theory" will accomplish what all the major religions, humanism, and untold numbers of cults and demi-gods have failed to do? ...I am going to have to brake down and look into this game theory thingy. ...Does anybody already have the copyrights?!? <vbg>

So my point is that self interest will compel us to change our policy, just as this same dynamic forced smaller tribes to form city states and city states to form nations. Unfortunately some people just need to be burnt before they accept this concept.

True but those changes - including our own nation building - are most typically accompanied by liberal amounts of murder, genocide, war, torture and assorted forms of very "bad" behavior, too numerous to mention. I shudder to think what it would take to bring all of humanity under a single ethical system.

Face it Sun Tzu. You are a predatory animal and, like it or not, you will sell your kids and shoot your neighbor if it means putting food on the table. ...If not because he's looking at you the wrong way. <vbg>

Don't change on my account though. We need optimists far more than we need megalomaniacs. But I'm putting my money on diversity as the "salvation" of the clan man, so you'll have to forgive me if I line up against the game playing global villagers. <Hoo><Hoo>
