With Iraq, its beginning to look like the approach favored by Rummy may be experiencing some problems.

NONE of the major crises that were legitimate concerns before the war have come to pass.

The major complaint re Rummy's theory on war is that he doesn't deploy enough men to get the job done effectively. Iraq will be the first real test of his plan. I consider his concept of war and effectiveness in Afghanistan to be mixed.

What, EXACTLY, has NOT gone well?

The 4th is still enroute two weeks after the war has started; there is no northern front to speak of which allows the Syrians, Kurds and Iranians [and maybe the Turks] to play with us and do what they want to do; we don't have enough troops to adequately guard an unusually long supply line causing more casualties; we counted on the Shiites to take up arms and fight with us instead they remain passive; and shock and awe failed to do what we had hoped.......to so demoralize the Iraqis in Bagdad that they would quit early on.

Of course, the war has only been in play for two weeks; then, again, that's a lot to have go wrong in two weeks.
