Two fighter jets were scrambled. But arrived too late.

I'll dig up the link if you want to.

We have units with 5 and 30 minute alerts on our borders before 9/11 but no one thought we needed fighters on alert sitting on a runway in Pennsylvania.

It takes some time to fuel them and get the pilot in them. The plane over Pennsylvania was being followed by F16s.

Excuse me, Bush didn't jump in an F-16 and shoot a bunch of People down. He's a real prick.
