The problem with conversion is not the knowhow as much as it is replacing the entire structure of existing end-use application...ie automobiles, power plants, heating systems etc.

Why would Powell bring up wmd in Iran now? He is ready to take them all on now

Was there really any doubt?

Iran IS, after all, in the list of "evil" countries. And as we all know, the current US president seems to be convinced that he has a mission to confront & erase all evil.

It is no coincidence that Iran announced it is mining for uranium, and North Korea announced its plans for a nuclear future shortly after they were named within the "axis of evil".

The lesson from Iraq is clear - Bush calls you "evil" and your turn will come, unless you get nuclear capabilities very fast, as that seems to be the only way to deter him.

Of course it will not stop there. Other countries get this message loud and clear as well. So one of the myriad consequences of the invasion of Iraq will be an arms race - countries who feel threatened by the US will rush to nuclear capacity, and their neighbours will have to follow so as to keep the level ground.

Brilliant.
