<Predicting the future is also an excellent thing to do and is the primary purpose of our great big brains. >

Except no one is able to do it making one wonder what all the fuss is about. :)

<Turkeys might think Thanksgiving is a problem for them. >

Good choice, I like turkey myself.

<The Turkeys should attend psychological school to look within themselves to solve THEIR problem.>

Except you just said this: " Which begs the question of why nature would have gone to such immense trouble to provide us with the means to think if it wasn't such a great thing to do"

One answer would be that we are the only animal that CAN 'look at himself'. So using your own criteria... and example leads to nice support for the psychoanalysts.

And as to:

<DAK is full of "thinking is bad" nonsense. >

If you remember the point is that thinking is a powerful tool when used with intention. Good, planned thinking is good, bad planned thinking is bad... and wandering around your house allowing your thinking to run away with you and play movies in your head with no intent at all, is just that.

As for nature going to natures 'immense trouble'... well, the same can be said for any number of dis-eases other than mental ones. Just insert 'cancer is bad' into your rant. BTW, there is a very wide range of 'busy-ness' or intenseness in peoples stream of thought, nature provided that too... nature provided the Zen master AND the psychologist.

<. Living in the here and now is absurd other than that is the actual state in which we are. >

ROFLMAO!

So Maurice, I see you have a little too much time on your hands.

Now that your scintillating counterpoint includes turkeys in psychotherapy and the proclivities of the J-man. Thanks for convincing me <not>.

The act of self examination does not mean that you'll always find out that you're wrong. It's an act, however, that the Neocons seem disinclined to consider as worthwhile. Or even admit that it should be in one's playbook. As I said, arrogance and self righteousness gone amuk.

Saddam a thug ? Sure. But what are the motives of the thuggish neocons here ?

Ask the other 95% of the world right about now.

Afghanistan made sense. An outside force invaded their country, set up a base, and used it to spawn terrorist incidents. Few had a problem when we went in there, including myself.

Now, we're going to save the world by invading countries as we see fit, who didn't invite us in, because we can ? Un-uh.

Thinking is not bad. Thinking you're always right, while refusing to consider alternative viewpoints (such as that of most of the rest of the world), is bad. Seems to be a disease that has infested the white house lately.

In that spirit, what I am thinking is that you have just written a load of nonsense.

cheers !
