re: our interdependence with other countries. Good article in Business Week this week explaining this. This is why we cannot have a unilateral foreign policy. We need investments and trade with the rest of the world - including France and Germany - and they need us. We have a global economy. We need to think globally on security issues also - and need friends and allies to work with. Even the US cannot do it all by ourselves.
