I thought we were talking about the substance of the author's message, which was his list of five actions.

I agree with you that the tone of the rest of the article has an edge to it, but, other than the point about raiding the oil-for-food program, I don't see anything there that isn't at least arguably accurate. It's hardly a smear job.

While wer're here, how do you reconcile these two statements?


The "get out" is the header for point five, not a logistical proposal. If you read point five, it's about letting the Iraqis do things their way rather than hovering and imposing our image and likeness. I don't see a contradiction.

You know, Laz, there's a lot of crap being thrown around on both sides. It seems to me that this article is constructive even if it doesn't come from your "side." Seems to me we should be listening to the constructive stuff even as we deflect the crap. It's useful to be able to distinguish between constructive and non-constructive rather than just between us and them.
