Nope, he's going to be hailed as a leader world-wide as well. Watch how fast they jump on the bandwagon. And of course the market is going to go nuts with the pent-up aversion to capital spending that will be alleviated. However, I always reserve my right to go short ;-).

There's an old argument from 1944, 45 that the "cost" of re-building Europe, and massive war debt (far more than you could imagine today) would push us all back into the depression (and, undoubtedly, "win the Wallace/Stalinists 40 House seats").

If you ever get around to reading any economic history, I recommend that of the US, 1945 to 2000 (when Clinton/Rubin finally managed to fuck it all up.)...

I think you're probably right about that. The economy will drag him down. But I don't know that the Dems can put anyone forth who can beat even a weak Bush. The Dems have no credible candidates.
