I'm no longer convinced that Saddam actually has many if any 'best troops' left... maybe he's got killers lurking ready for post-occupation terrorist activities in Baghdad and elsewhere, but these hardly have to be elite units. I think maybe he was even weaker than suspected... which hardly makes him some imminent and overriding threat to the US or anyone else since 1991, but then we know that was another administration lie anyhow.
