I am not going to get into an argument with you over whether the detainees at Guantanamo are prisoners of war or unlawful combatants. I am willing to admit that I am not qualified to make that decision.

Monbiot can make as many accusations as he wishes, but for now the US has declared them unlawful combatants. Until it may be determined otherwise, no International laws have been broken.

Would you like to discuss the way SH's army uses children and women as human shields? Or the descriptive photos released last week of the butchered American soldiers?

It is no secret that Monbiot is no friend of the US or where he stands on these issues when one reads sarcastic opinions such as this:

The five soldiers dragged in front of the cameras yesterday should thank their lucky stars that they are prisoners not of the American forces fighting for civilisation, but of the "barbaric and inhuman" Iraqis.

So what!
