Did the British allow citizenship while they were colonizing? Could a Zulu for example become in charge of an army and eventually be the ruler of a city? And don't go into the slavery debate. I thought I made it clear that moral judgement has to be done relative to our understanding of human values at the time. You can't just ignore 2000 years of human progress and say we are better. If that were so, then my being able to read and recite history should elevate me to a high position in the government...anyway, let's move on.
