With six billion people contacting the outside world, "species jumping" infections must be a bigger problem now.

On another note, my brother-in-law has just visited. He is back from the Gulf of Mexico where the vessel he works on has just laid oil and gas pipeline down at a record depth of 7800 feet. (the records being broken all the time)

Surely someone will discover Iraqi sized oilfields in the sea soon. Most of the planet is covered with sea, it stands to reason.
