You're welcomed on this thread. Btw, I'm still writing cov calls every month too (you made a post on that awhile ago. Thanks.) In answer to your question, my friend just got back from China last night.Message 18800754 But he came back from a resort area located closer to HK, not Beijung. In the region he went, information on SARS is being blocked according to what my friend saw. He said, "China blocked access to the WHO website a few days ago (about 3-4 days ago) from this region." (Note: he's referring to the region HE was in, not Beijung.) He said, "Not even the Americans know about the disease (in the region he was in.) (And the disease's name is not the issue.) " He said, "Additionally, China also has not informed Americans in China (in his region) that are conducting humanitarian activities through a very highly, well-known world-wide group. I mean, come on. These are the people on the front lines of any issues too. Go figure. Where's the news on that? " CNN didn't say the above, my friend said it. So, why would you accuse CNN? In fact, CNN didn't imply China wasn't hiding information. They did say China was very, very slow to react. But my friend was there. Information was being blocked in his region. Have you been to any resorts recently in China around HK that would prove China is not hiding information? No need to get upset, just provide the information or facts. But whether you do or do not have information on resort areas, that's okay. You're still welcomed on this thread and your opinion is valued. On another note, did you see today's Mercury News ezine? They mentioned a Vietnamese family that moved to a hotel (and left a family member in the house) because that member had a cold (they thought it might have been SARS). My thought was, so people in our community (Bay Area) are running to hotels, when they think their close family memmber has SARS. I mean, they're going to hotels under such scenarios - great way to spread the joys to the rest of us. Go figure. Just lovely, hey? I think SJMN is a tad biased (by minimizing SARS) in their reporting because there's not a single article about how the Counties should step up it's procedures. When Mercury News does mention the concept of stepping up procedures, it's always (and only) in the context of that's what those weird Asians' wish. Making the Asians sound weird. Maybe the Asians are right and maybe it's SJMN that's weird for not taking this matter seriously enough and being delinquent in their reporting. I think they will side with the people that have SARS and put their right's first. They'll start talking about our rights (about how to steup procedures to avoid this from spreading) only when many people have it. Not smart and not preventative. SARS is growing 2.7% a day. WSJ would be all over a stock that was growing 2.7%/day, every day. So, why isn't SJMN all over SARS and demanding better procedures, rather than poo-poo'ing it? The only companies that have stepped up their procedures in a good way, seem to be HP and possibly GM (who shut off travel, I heard). The rest are lax (I think). HP seems to be the only one taking this seriously. Regards, Amy J
