> We assume that the way we live is the best way and that everyone wants to live like we do. That assumption may not be true.

I know I am not being politically correct... but trust me.. that assumption is correct! Everyone - and I mean everyone - wants to live the way we do, but because they can not they are jealous and they do a lot of barking.

Its like having the mentality that just because Bill Gates is the richest man in the world, he must have stolen, cheated and lied to get to where he is - and therefore we should all scream and shout that Bill Gates is an evil lier son of a bitch!

While the truth is, the reason he is where he is today is because he is a smart guy, has Worked very hard, and has never ever taken anything for granted and has never asked anyone to give him a hand-out.

I went back to Iran a couple of years ago. I got into a discussion with one of these so called intellectuals who go around and say how life in America is bad and it is all materialstics and that America is the big evil imperialist, etc. Well... guess what? If you offer him his "green-card" to come to and live in the U.S he would do it with absolutely no hesitation! In fact I just found out that he had been trying so hard to escape from Iran and come to the U.S with his family, but no luck since he can not get a visa to come to the U.S!

The same goes with all others. There is a Persian expression that says: "The cat could nto reach the prime meat, so she ketp saying it stinks!"... Well.. all these people (evenn the ungreatful French and German) would do anything to just get a bit of the American dream and live like the way we do.

Dont take so many things that you are blessed with in this country as granted. You should travel outside the U.S. and go to Europe, Middle East, etc., and then you appreciate what you have and then wish everyone else could also be fortunate to have a bit of what you have.

tejek, Well, if you want to be a nit-picker, go ahead on. You are trying to put the larger picture under a microscope. Nothing can stand that much scrutiny, including either one of our pasts, I'm betting.

If, at least almost, everyone doesn't want live like we do, why are they doing anything to get in here by hook, or by crook?? Personally, I don't like the urbanization of this country, or any other, at the expense of the ecology, and native fauna, and flora, but the majority of Americans seem to think that such progress is the only way to go. When all the trees are gone, and they die from carbon dioxide poisoning, they may wish they had chosen to maintain enough wilderness to sustain all kind of life.

The point being, everybody cannot have it the way they want , so they must adapt to survive.
