Absolutely. A relatively benevolent dictator, he stabilized the country and then stepped aside. I recall reading that Chilean economy was growing several %% a year for several years. I was there a few years ago, and what I saw was a relatively prosperous country and people who appeared happy. Some were pro- and some were against Pinochet, but no one seemed to hesitate to speak heir mind.
