I wonder if Saddam is wearing the golden cowboy spurs that Ronnie Reagan gave him?

<<< ... So when this envoy arrived in Baghdad, not only did he have a hand-written letter, but he also gave Saddam Hussein a pair of golden cowboy spurs, as a present from Ronald Reagan. He shook Saddam’s hand, called him “Mr. President,” and had a meeting that the Iraqi foreign ministry described at the time as being about “topics of mutual interest.” That envoy, who began the process of restoring relations between Washington and Iraq, a man who stood with Saddam Hussein in 1983, was Donald Rumsfeld ... >>>

US foreign policy has for years been trying to address the issues of China. We opened trade to China thinking that would help. I think the assumption is that they are a somewhat reasonable country that will make improvements and will be a world partner. One encouraging sign is that behind the scenes recently they are attempting to help with the North Korean problem.

BTW I have had 4 relatives who where missionaries in China and the Phillipines. I also had an inlaw, who worked for a federal agency in charge of food distribution to Bangla Desh back in the late 70's.

Oh such pithiness posed as thinly disguised cynicism ..no wait

not thinkily disguised after all.<g>

what no definitions from the dictionary for the crowd?

They aren't just interested in people in one country, whose pain might justify military action, and more killing. They care about death and torture for much purer motives.

let's see now , there's Herzegovina/Bosnia/Serbia... Afghanistan and now Iraq ...

I count 3 countries X ...shall we buy you an abacus to
make it a little easier to:

" county the pithy frothy droothy druze on your tosies mosie mosey moes "?

one step at a time lady ...we'll get you a "stepper" and help you cross the street.

<< If you aren't doing anything, I have a suggestion for you- Amnesty International- because they actually care about people being killed and tortured. >>

I consider Amnesty International antiAmerican and too political. People who are subject to murder or torture would be a lot better off being liberated by America, then to be subjected to whatever games Amnesty International would play.
