I am not defending all of the man's views. Roach is certainly not perfect either.

You say "If you go back a long ways, per recollection, he harped on his muddle through or mud through approach for a long time. Others like Roach were in the mean time warning of deflation. "

It is not at all clear to me that these two arguments should be compared, but, if they are, it is equally not clear to me which advice is more useful.
