The poor Hispanics that sneak into this country annually, are not like us, but want what we have, and to make a decent wage to send money south to their families. Other high percentage groups wanting to come to America, are moslems themselves, who are as different as night, and day, from us. Asian Indians come here in droves, as do Chinese, Vietnamese, Koreans, and other SE Asian peoples. They don't look like us or speak the same language but they think like we think. The ones that are most like us are the British, and other western Europeans, and very few of them are that anxious to move here. Of course not........they already have their version of what we have.Obesity, depression, and asthma, are individual concerns that can be addressed by individuals with help from health professionals. These diseases may concern the individuals who are effected but they have a negative impact that collectively effects our society. Scientists are just beginning to realize how much of a negative impact the growing complexity of our culture is having on the average human being. They have learned that as the culture grows and becomes more complex, the stress it generates adversely effects people's breathing, causing them to hyperventilate 24/7. And the more they hyperventilate, the more the body's immune system is compromised. And the more the immune system is compromised, the more certain types of diseases are given entry into the body. Diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure are a twentieth century phenomenon and are virtually unknown in less complex societies. I totally agree that the average American is letting himself go to pot, both physically and morally. Why anyone would prefer to live in a large, crowded city, is beyond me, but I have been a country type person all my life. I used to travel to Manhattan 5 times a year on business, and could not get out of that cess pool fast enough after the business was done. Even the Tampa area is too crowded for me. In the next year, it is the Blue Ridge mountains for me, and my wife.
