RE:The first step would have been to bring Saddam before a world court on charges against humanity.

And you expect him just to show up in court. How naive are you? LOL. What dream world do you live in?
If he's still alive, that should happen, but it will have taken this invasion to get to him.

I wrote this on another thread:

"How much is 75 Billion?
It is 150,000 new teachers, each paid 50k.

It is 375,000,000 books at 20 dollars a piece.

It's a lot of money. And of course this is just the beginning. "

I find the money involved in this enterprise amazing. And the odd thing is alleged fiscal conservatives are supporting it. I can't figure out how you do that kind of dance. I'm right next door to a socialist- so I'd spend the money here at home on the poor, and education, and rebuilding our infrastructure, and on research, and art..... (I've got a long shopping list)

But I can't figure out how people who want to pinch other people's pennies, can get behind this kind of expense. I don't see this addressed all that often. I would have thought the cost of this should be in the forefront of the debate.

<< The first step would have been to bring Saddam before a world court on charges against humanity. >>

Great idea. How would you get Saddam to the court? What if the world court was corrupt, under the influence of dishonest dictators and controlled by self serving political interests? How could you insure a fair trial?

<< Why wasn't this done a long time ago? >>

A great number of members of the world community are represented by brutal thugs, dictators and incompetent bureaucrats. They don't want to point the "legal" finger at someone else because they are afraid of the finger being pointed back at them.

<< It's easier for a people to overthrow a corrupt leader if they know the whole world is behind them. Agree? >>

How do you get corrupt, brutal dictators to support you? Are you eager to have them on your side? Do you care if a dictator murdered millions of his own people, as long as you can get them behind you?
