He could be tried in absentia. The importance is to gain a verdict that would support the actions of the Iraqi people to overthrow him.

Here's an interesting question for intellectual considerations:

Much has been made about Saddam's treatment of the Kurds. Can you tell us how the Turks have treated the Kurds?

If there's any group of people who've been kicked around for ages, it is the fate of the Kurds. Perhaps the Kurd issue should be discussed more in the United Nations. Anyone who posts here have any info on how the UN has dealt with the Kurd issue?
