I can see the thought that they should be grateful but I don't think we should ask or expect them to be ass kissers.

As far as I am concerned (and for that matter the world is concerned), if it was not because of the U.S, there would be no Germany as we know it today after the WWII. For that the Germans will (and should) always be our ass-kissers (and let there be no doubt about that).

You know that story is nearly 60 years old and is getting very old. Besides, we helped Germany get started and forgave a lot of debt. The hard work was done by the Germans themselves.

As for the French, can you recall any major incident within the past 30-40 years that we have relied on them (with the exception of the Gulf war in 91)? As far as I can remember the friendship has always been a one way street (that is us being their friends and all they have done has been to simply take that friendship without giving anything "real" in return).

I don't much care for the French and our relationship with them. I major concern is our relationship with the Germans. Plus, I worry that we are creating a major opposing bloc consisting of Germany, France and Russia.
