Doug, would that have taken less then a few weeks? And what do you project the death toll would have been in your "incremental" plan? Another 100,000?

Re: Encourage people to move from the Baghdad controlled area into "Greater Free Iraq" and let the Baathists slowly wither away as Iraqis learn the example created. In a utopian world, that is a good idea. How would you propose that Iraqis exercise a freedom in a country with reminders of who is in charge with brutal efficiency on every city block? The only true way to achieve "Greater Free Iraq" is to remove those reminders. they are coming down.

Doug. You said...." To strengthen this goal, UN security council efforts could have been engineered and coordinated with the timing of establishing administrative benchmarks within "Greater Free Iraq".... I think we have all seen how effective the UN is. Now why do you think the UN would endorse splitting up iraq? and why would iraq's neighbors some of which are UN members suddenly think it is ok to split up iraq I mean since their big concern was that very thing happening as a result of this ongoing war? And if your plan were tried how many innocent people do you think would die during all the in fighting amongst different tribes and different religious sects.
