I dunno, just looks like more regular politics to me. Bush and Blair meet to discuss the situation in Ireland, a sop to Blair's domestic needs. These guys meeting in Russia is also just a visible positioning, using the location to say they remain unhappy with the situation. They're also busy softening the stance by saying how closely they want to continue to work with the US. I mean, it's all nuances of colors of shades of things...

Blair and Bush said today they see a major role for the UN, too: cnn.com

Withdrawing from the UN would be a mistake, IMO. As cynical as we all are about the UN, it still is better to have some common international forum than none.

Right Kevin! In fact, lets let the airborne
troops take them out too when they get back.
Make a clean break with all of them.
Maybe fire a missile in there too - most are
commies, right? So what if a few of them are sent
on to the great beyond a little early hehehe

And if a few wacko liberal journalists try to report
from there while we are doing that - take those
b***ards out too, right? They are all the hate-the-US
crowd anyway, right? So, they don't matter. If they
are in the wrong place at the wrong time, well, that's
not our fault.

We will liberate New York from the evil UN (we mainly
created it - but that was done by some dead American
socialist now - so what?)

We don't need these socialists anyway. Let's ship
the Statue of Liberty back to those French sissies
while we're at it! In fact, we might put France
and Germany on our list - and Russia too, if they
aren't careful.

We're king of the world - and everybody better watch
out now, right?

To hell with the UN! To hell with Europe! We are the
best in the world - we know it- and everyone else will
too soon, right?

Is that the world you really want Kevin?

Moufassa, check this out. It's time for complete withdrawal from the UN... Its a dangerous world and its time to stop playing games with backstabbing pseudo-friends.
