You ever picked up one of those things (M-16)?

No, but compared to the normal rifles I have picked up the M16 is super light. 2.9 kg unloaded.

Compare that to the WW2 M1 at 4.37 kg unloaded.

There is a big difference in the ammunition too, the M16 has a lighter round so carrying extra ammunition is easier.

Perhaps you thought of a machine gun? Usually those can be supported in some way I think.

ps. At the last shooting club I was at in the USA, the best shot was a woman. Not that unusual these days.

M-16 much lighter than a Uzi. (UZi around 13 pounds for only 9mm) Of course, the M-16 didn't have to be designed in a British Jail ....(a brilliant accomplishment by Uzi Galil)
