Not to get too OT on this thread, but I would bet you are right. I think that may be why Grossman went INTO the street for this book. He was met with a lot of hostility at times.

In response to the second part of your earlier post: I think we would be insane to ignore the deep seated resentment of the Arabs. What you describe is the reality.

But it is also a reality based on our (the West's) treatment of them over many years as inferior people, as countries and people to be divided, disposed of, taken from. Because of this, we risk making serious errors in the way we act toward, or react to, them. And we make these errors in part because of own ethnocentric beliefs.

Arrogance? Intolerance? These are not Arab characteristics; these are human ones.
