It amazes me that it is the liberals or anti-war crowd that basically seems to say Iraqis are not capable of developing and running a country.

I believe they are, if given the chance which they have not had in 30 years and, given time.


Couple comments :

- generically labeling people as "liberal" , "anti war" is not helpful. In a democracy such as we have one is entitled to have an opinion.

- Put yourself in the position of a person born 30-40 years ago in Iraq. Such a person has no idea what democracy means, having been repressed for all/most of their life. To transform Iraq even into a pseudo-democracy will take many years. One's mindset need to re-adjust. Does not happen in a month or a year or 2.

Why not change your quote to ...
"So one un-elected authority wil be replaced by a government comprised of Iraqis representing varied interests in Iraq society."
Be optimistic, it's always easy to dismiss optimism.
