My view used to be that the markets will jump when the war is over, only to sag later as the reality of the economy hits. Then hopefully by the summer, THE bottom will have been reached.

Now it seems "victory" will not be clear-cut enough to cause that initial jump in the markets. Instead of an immediate end of hostilities, we're likely to see a gradual decline of the war as we mop up pockets of resistance. We have Saddam and his jerk-off Fedayeen to thank for that.

Because of this, I think those betting on a war victory jump better take their bets off the table. Either that, or like you suggested, they better hope for Saddam's dead body to turn up.

EDIT: Case in point: Reuters is already calling the collapse of Saddam's regime ... (http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml;jsessionid=4BG0BVVS1XCDCCRBAEKSFEY?type=topNews&storyID=2536843) Yet the markets are down.
