Iraq proved to be weaker than was thought at the beginning of the war. Mainly a matter of morale and commitment. I think it was Napolean who said "the morale is to the physical as 10 is to 1". Its understandable that a lot of Iraqi's didn't care to fight a desperate battle against a superior force to try and protect a brutal thug. Germans and Japanese fought hard in WWII but their regimes where more popular then Saddams and the odds didn't get as overwhelming until near the end. Also a lot of the Germans where fighting off the Red Army which would impose communism and Soviet empire, and also was prety tough on the civilians in the areas it conquered. Tim
