Eric, CNN is also a Cable News Network, and most of the time is spent on interviews and commentary. It is very tough to fill the time with real news reporting, because the expense would be prohibitive. The over the air networks have only 30 minutes of news to fill, and they are hugely un-profitable (the news part of these networks). I would like more news and in depth reporting, but the realities of the business are that you can only do so much. For example, on Fox News, their news programs during normal schedule (Britt Hume, Sheppart Smith) get much lower ratings than O'Reilley, Hannity / Colmes, Greta, while I am sure they are more expensive to produce.
