I suppose your idea of "Operation Iraqi Freedom" is that it has more or less reached its successful conclusion. My idea has been, and still is, that the truly dangerous part begins with the collapse of the Iraqi government. By the way, I know there are people who believed the initial military campaign would last longer and prove more difficult for US forces than was the case. But the fact that the invasion proceeded relatively quickly does not, in my opinion, mean this is a triumph of force. There are not enough troops to maintain order. And it is this period -- as much as the actual invasion -- that critics, including many in the US military, were worried about. If you think what is going on in Iraq now is some kind of picnic or "cakewalk" -- to use a phrase that's been thrown around -- you are badly mistaken. M2
