RE: Have the UN announce that The Congo is ungovernable as it is. Instead of putting the UN in, they put the running of the place up for bid. Let a Japanese or Chinese Corporation take over and run the place

Why can't USA do the same for what it is doing for Iraq ?

International law is not likely to support such an action. Nor would the precedent set by such an action be beneficial, imo. Obviously you're joking.

We've been in an out of Africa for years because we support too whimsically and we never give enough to do any real good. We go in, we do a tiny bit of good, then we leave, because it would be too difficult to be there for the long haul. We don't have a good plan to help Africa.

A friend of mine from the peacecorps who worked in Burkina Fasso said that what Africa needed was real development help in manufacturing and trade. According to her Burkina Fasso had some of the best fruit she'd ever eaten- but could they get it out of the country? No. When I go to Costco I see Philippine mangoes, where are the exports from Africa?

I don't want to talk about the history of Africa and why they are behind the developmental curve, because it's such a long sad story, but they certainly need our assistance to struggle to their feet now, and we should give it, imo.
