Crusty,

Interesting information regarding the likelihood of whether gold stocks would follow the general stock market down in a decline.

I think that many different factors would be involved, and therefore, in my opinion, it might be hard to generalize. In the last real panic selloff in the general stock market (after the 9/11 attack) gold and HUI did well. And the instance you note from last summer (when the general stock market and gold stocks went down together) was during a deep correction in gold stocks - which would lead me to question as to how much of the decline in gold stocks was being caused by the decline in the general stock market.

Also, since '01 gold stocks and the general stock market seem to be running counter to each other.

MVG.TO at least appears to have some gold

biz.yahoo.com

I hope it goes into this niche:

<Some wild speculation in select juniors (probably, those with the most recent positive drill results) should continue into June, nonetheless>

<am also open to the idea this whole time frame could be compressed or expanded by 3-4 weeks, all dependent upon the DOW activity. Unfortunately, the more the compression, the smaller the rise in the XAU.>

HUI had a nice but compressed run last December
