For more than 70 years, a succession of Iraqi governments guarded and enhanced the artifacts in the museum. Which are really the whole world's heritage, not just Iraq's. No matter how thieving and malfeasant the governments were, the museum's care takers managed to get them to protect the museum, and even rebuild it after the 1991 damage.

Would you tolerate armed Iraqi guards to provide security ? And if you don't, then whose responsibility is it to provide security ?
