<<Tongue test identifies 'super-tasters'>>

I saw an article on that and it mentioned "super-tasters" sometimes couldn't stand vegetables because they could taste compounds others couldn't. I can eat some vegetables raw but cook them and I can't even be at the same table.

"CYA activities"
Investigation.
Who knows? Maybe they'll come back, say everything is fine and be right.
And maybe not. Then they could lose the bird.

Or it comes back and says there's trouble. Then they've got a problem. Budget. It'll take months to fix it. And they've already cut the developers to the bare bone. There are a small number of people - like me - that they really have to have around to launch and check out this thing. And the only way they can guarantee our availability is keep us on their payroll. If we go off to another project, they may not be able to get us back when they need us. A delay means the cost problem goes up another $100M to $250M. That means they have to go back to Congress. They hate that.

So it's the proverbial rock-and-hard-place.

Unless the investigators come back and say there is no problem and are right. Of course, there will be management pressure to do just that. And we've seen where that leads to with NASA.

Actually, it's not at all just NASA. It's just that their failures are so much more SPECTACULAR. :-)
