What happened, in the end, to the antelope hide coat? Do you remember? When we were first married and lived on the Lower East Side, N once carried a wrought iron floor lamp base from the 100's on the west side down to 4th street to save the bus fare. I would make a giant soup and we and an equally poor friend across the street would live on it teeny paycheck to teeny paycheck, taking turns feeding each other. I still make big soups. I have to go get supper on the table now. Not soup.
