Is knowledge of past ages also worthless?

If everyone thought like you seem to, the whole world would look like Las Vegas, or a big ugly strip mall.

Antiques are for collectors. They are old and worthless.

To all the whiners regarding the lost antiques from Baghdad:

Is this your new "Cause"?

We know how much you need a cause.

The terrible waste, the lost history, the needless _______.

You bore us. You amuse us.

We need you...you brighten our day.

Antiques are for collectors.

When there is a hurricane or other catastrophe and one's house is destroyed one usually first wants to save mementos of his past, his family, his loved ones. Such things have enormous sentimental value, though they may look like junk to others. An old photo of the grandparents maybe worth more than a new dinning set.

The Baghdad antiquities museum held mementos of the entire mankind going back 5,000 years. Securing the oil ministry while neglecting to secure the antiquities museum (in spite of urgent entreaties) will haunt us for a long time. It may even affect our plans for the oil ministry.
