Re Salman Pak....John you mentioned to MC: in which you ask yourself just how strong was the evidence that these stories were newsworthy, i.e, credible. I submit that was debatable...

Yes, it is important that the news that is released is credible. One would believe that if the White House issued something to the press corps, no matter WHAT or WHICH Administration, then one would have to assume that perhaps the White House had the proof....(CIA reports, FBI reports, satellite in the sky reports, boots on the ground reports, defectors, etc etc etc)...at least IMO. And from the looks of things, about 70-75% of the American people think that as well.

The real problem that I see from the Eason Jordan confession on Friday is that now, even more, people will become distrustful of media sources, no matter what and who they are. In one way that might be healthy. Do as we do here on FADG and try to determine which might be correct, or if there are many possibilities of correct, etc. BUT, in another way, it is unhealthy. People will become more and more cynical, and turn away, from news, from becoming more educated on multi-sides of an event, and from the voting booth.

Also, here are some recent notes about Salman Pak....You and FL wanted to know if there was anything "recent".... I'd say so. The US forces have now taken the camp and the area...and can compare the pieces of the 'training plane" to the plane they saw on the satellite photos over a year ago. For starters.

Re Salman Pak.....This courtesy of LB about 4 AM this morning.... and don't forget, over a year ago, there was an airplane on the ground at this site, and defectors said it was for training purposes....

>>>>>>>>>>The Salman Pak camp 20 miles south of Baghdad has also been taken thanks, says CentCom, to information obtained from captured foreign fighters of various nations, including Sudan and Egypt. The camp even possessed an airline fuselage. We suspect it wasn't for training Air France pilots.

A reasonable assumption is that the fuselage, the train cars and a burned-out double-decker bus also discovered at Salman Pak were the stuff of hijacker training. This supports the statements of two former Iraqi military officers who in the fall of 2001 told PBS's "Frontline" and the New York Times that Iraqis and non-Iraqi Arabs went to Salman Pak to practice hijacking planes and trains, planting bombs and staging assassinations. Now's a good time to start exploring whether any of the September 11 hijackers are graduates of Salman Pak or other terrorist-training camps in Iraq. <<<<<<<<<<
